Multiple dead, several injured in shooting at Idaho In-N-Out Burger; gunman also killed

A shooting at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday afternoon left multiple people dead and several others injured, according to local police.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that the suspected gunman was among the dead, adding that investigators are still working to determine the shooter’s identity and motive. Authorities said the threat to the public has ended, but officials had not yet released the exact number of casualties as they continued notifying victims’ families.

“It was a very chaotic scene,” Hicks said during a news conference.

Eyewitness Lane Koehn said he saw a person carrying an AR-style rifle emerge from the restaurant’s drive-thru before another man armed with a handgun opened fire on the suspect. Koehn also described helping an injured In-N-Out employee who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest until paramedics arrived.

Police initially instructed nearby residents and bystanders to evacuate as officers responded to what was still considered an active shooting. Witnesses reported hearing at least three or four gunshots, though investigators have not determined whether the attack specifically targeted anyone.

The shooting occurred near a busy shopping district packed with shoppers at the time, prompting a large emergency response involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Roads around the area were closed as officers secured the scene and interviewed witnesses.

St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center said it was working closely with law enforcement and emergency responders as they managed the incident.
