JD(S) leader HD Revanna, whose son is accused of sexual assault and rape, was taken into custody by SIT officials on Saturday in connection with a kidnapping case. The kidnapping case was registered by the victim’s family at the KR Nagar police station, in Bengaluru.

HD Revanna’s son Prajwal Revanna is facing multiple charges of sexual abuse. He was picked up by the officials of the Special Investigation Team after a court rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

The case was registered against Revanna, a former Minister and son of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and his confidant Sathish Babanna in Mysuru on Thursday night for allegedly abducting a woman, who is also reportedly a victim of alleged sexual abuse by his son and MP Prajwal Revanna.

The complaint of kidnapping was filed by the son of the victim woman, who has now been tracked down by the Karnataka police. It is likely that she will soon speak to the SIT officials.

Earlier today, a special court for People’s Representative in Bengaluru rejected the interim bail application of JD(S) leader HD Revanna and JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in connection with the alleged “obscene videos” case.

According to the kidnapping case filed against HD Revanna, the woman worked at the JD(S) leader’s house for almost five years, and had quit three years ago. Her son alleged in the complaint that the woman was picked up by Revanna’s aid on April 26 and had been missing since.

The son later discovered a video of alleged sexual abuse of her mother by incumbent MP and Hassan Lok Sabha candidate Prajwal Revanna. He alleged in his complaint that soon after the video was discovered, his mother went missing.

The Holenarsipura MLA and his associate were booked under Sections 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 365 (kidnapping with intent to cause harm), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. The FIR, registered by KR Nagar police, also lists HD Revanna as accused number one and another man, identified as Babanna, as accused number two.
