Harry Boxer had claimed responsibility for firing outside Rohit Shetty’s house
Boxer’s name came into the spotlight following the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area on February 1, 2026.
According to the investigation, an unidentified assailant fired several rounds outside the filmmaker’s residence before fleeing. The incident triggered a major investigation by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch.
Following the shooting, a social media post purportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack. The message named several individuals, including Harry Boxer, and alleged that Shetty had been warned against interfering in the gang’s activities.
The message also contained threats of further violence. Police subsequently examined the social media claims and audio recordings as part of their investigation into the alleged involvement of gang members.
The Mumbai Police later arrested several accused in connection with the firing. Investigators have been examining the alleged roles of individuals involved in planning, financing and executing the attack.

He was allegedly involved in sending threatening social media messages and audio recordings to people associated with the film industry.
One of the high-profile cases involved actor Ranveer Singh. According to reports, a threatening voice message was sent to the actor’s manager, allegedly demanding Rs 20 crore. Mumbai Police had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Boxer in connection with the threat.
His name has also surfaced in reports concerning threats to other Bollywood personalities, including Tushar Kapoor.
Investigating agencies are examining whether these incidents were part of a wider extortion and intimidation network allegedly operated by gang members based overseas.
Who is Harry Boxer?
Harry Boxer, whose real name is Harichand Jat, hails from Rajasthan’s Kotputli-Behror region. He reportedly earned the nickname ‘Boxer’ during his time learning the sport in Jaipur.
Before allegedly entering the criminal world, he had prepared for competitive examinations and worked as a boxing coach.
Investigators believe he later became associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and took on an important role in its overseas operations. He is suspected of coordinating extortion demands, issuing threats and maintaining communication with criminal associates in India.

Indian investigating agencies are expected to coordinate with US authorities to initiate the necessary legal process for his return. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may assist in coordinating with American agencies.
However, the exact legal procedure, including whether formal extradition proceedings have been initiated, has not yet been confirmed.
His questioning could provide investigators with further information about the alleged overseas operations of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, its extortion network and the threats directed at Bollywood personalities.
