Sensex falls 400 pts; Nifty SmallCap snaps five-day record run
The benchmark indices, Nifty50 and the Sensex, fell as oil prices steadied amid conflict of statement and actions from the US and Iran regarding a peace deal.
As of 11:00 AM, the Nifty50 was down 52.15 points or 0.21 per cent at 24,583.85 and the Sensex fell 388 points or 0.49 per cent to 78,567.16.
Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, and Shriram Finance were the top losers in the Nifty50 index.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap was up 0.31 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap fell 0.01 per cent.
Sector-wise, the Nifty IT rises 1 per cent and outperformed its peers. Meanwhile, the Nifty PSU Bank and the Nifty Financial Services underperformed.
