Priyanka Chopra joins Russell Crowe in sci-fi thriller Bluefly; Nick Jonas leads fan cheers

Actor Priyanka Chopra has added another major international project to her growing Hollywood portfolio, announcing that she will star alongside Oscar winner Russell Crowe in the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Bluefly.

Priyanka shared the news on Instagram on Thursday with the caption, “On to the next,” sparking excitement among fans and fellow celebrities. Her husband, Nick Jonas, and actor Huma Qureshi celebrated the announcement with fire emojis, while fans praised the casting and expressed anticipation for the film.

Directed by Nimród Antal, Bluefly is written by David Frigerio, William Eubank and Carlyle Eubank.

According to Deadline, the film follows a grieving UN translator who is drawn into a covert mission deep in the Congo to recover a mysterious aircraft that was never meant to exist. As a Special Operations team ventures through militia-controlled territory, the mission takes a dangerous turn, revealing secrets surrounding the aircraft.

The film is produced by Michael Jefferson (Polite Society), David Frigerio (Broken Open Pictures), Deborah Glover (G2 Dispatch), Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier (Highland Film Group), and Vanessa Yao Guo.

Highlighting the project’s appeal, Highland Film Group COO Delphine Perrier described Bluefly as a gripping thriller packed with unexpected twists, expressing confidence that the film would resonate with audiences worldwide.

Russell Crowe, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his iconic performance as Maximus in Gladiator, brings added star power to the project.

Meanwhile, Priyanka is also gearing up for her return to Indian cinema after an eight-year hiatus with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, where she will star alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is currently in production and is slated for a theatrical release in April 2027.
