Bollywood actor Vidyut Jammwal is set to make his Hollywood debut with the upcoming action film Street Fighter. At a recent event hosted by Paramount Pictures India in Mumbai, a special featurette featuring the actor was unveiled as he spoke about his experience working on an international production and the differences between Hollywood and Bollywood film sets.

Vidyut Jammwal On Hollywood Vs Bollywood Sets

Speaking about his experience on a Hollywood production, Vidyut highlighted the discipline and punctuality he observed on the sets.

“There is a huge difference,” the actor said, recalling how friends in the industry had previously told him about the significantly higher budgets in Hollywood.

However, he said the level of discipline on the Street Fighter set stood out to him.

“For the first time, I have seen 300 people on a set following such discipline,” Vidyut said. He added that actors including 50 Cent, Jason Momoa and Cody Rhodes were never late to set.

According to Vidyut, Hollywood’s strict labour regulations also create a different working environment for technicians.

“There is no such thing as being late. If someone is late by one minute, makers call them to know if they are not doing well,” he said.

He also pointed to overtime regulations, saying technicians receive additional payment for every minute of overtime.

“The laws are very different. So when you experience something like this with some legends around, you realise this is different,” Vidyut said, adding that the Indian film industry still has room to improve its adherence to rules and regulations.

Vidyut also discussed his journey to Street Fighter and explained how his long association with martial arts helped him connect with his character, Dhalsim.

The actor revealed that he has been training in Kalaripayattu since the age of three. He said his years of martial arts training made him feel that he was meant to play the iconic Street Fighter character.
