Sensex rises 400 points, Nifty tops 22,650; Nifty IT down over 1%

The Nifty50 and the Sensex were trading higher as metal and bank shares led and global equities rallied despite higher bond yields. 

As of 12:00 PM, the Sensex rose 437.44 points or 0.60 per cent to 72,819.91 and the Nifty50 was up 125.65 points or 0.56 per cent at 22,681.40.

Trent, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and BSE were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap rose 0.58 per cent and 0.91 per cent, respectively.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Private Bank rose the most, while the Nifty Healthcare declined the most.
