Sensex rises 700 pts, Nifty tops 23,250; JTL Ind shares jump 6% post Q2 result

The benchmark indices pared gains from the day’s high as IT shares weighed.

As of 2:00 PM, the Sensex rose 652.26 points or 0.88 per cent to 75,111.79 and the Nifty50 was up 194.30 points or 0.84 per cent at 23,247.40.

Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, and Maruti Suzuki India were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty Smallcap rose 0.96 per cent and 0.86 per cent, respectively.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Oil and Gas rose the most, while the Nifty Pharma declined the most.
