Sensex off 600 points from day’s high, Nifty below 22,500; IT, auto shares weigh

The Nifty50 and the Sensex pared early gains as IT and auto shares weighed.

As of 11 AM, the Sensex was up 245.98 points or 0.34 per cent at 72,155.68 and the Nifty50 rose 74.90 points or 0.33 per cent to 22,496.85.

Bajaj Finance, Shriram Finance, and ITC were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap rose 0.52 per cent and 0.11 per cent, respectively.

Sector-wise, the Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Metal, Nifty Oil and Gas, Nifty Chemical and Nifty Bank outperformed. Countering the trend, the Nifty IT, Nifty Pharma, and Nifty Healthcare declined the most.
