Miliband Warns Iran Against ‘Intimidation, Threats’ On UK Soil In Meeting With Araqchi

British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband told Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi that the UK would “not tolerate intimidation, threats or hostile activity on UK soil” by groups linked to Iran, Sky News reported on Thursday.

Miliband and Araqchi met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to Britain’s Foreign Office, the report said.

The two officials discussed the ongoing war in the Middle East, the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and Britain’s “unwavering resolve to combat threats from Iranian-linked groups” operating in the UK, Sky News reported.

UK Raises Cyber Threat Concerns

The warning comes days after Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre said Iranian state-linked cyber actors had used spyware known as “CHOSEN BRICK” to steal emails, messages and other sensitive information.

According to the NCSC, the activity involved “spear-phishing” campaigns targeting users of messaging platforms, including WhatsApp and Telegram.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
