Kyiv comes under air attack after truce with Russia expires: Ukrainian authorities
Russian drones targeted Kyiv early Tuesday, shortly after the expiration of a three-day truce between Russia and Ukraine, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Air raid sirens sounded across the Ukrainian capital for the first time since Friday as officials warned residents of an incoming unmanned aerial vehicle attack.
“Enemy UAVs are currently over Kyiv. Please stay safe until the alert is cleared,” Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said in a post on Telegram.
The drone alert came hours after the temporary ceasefire period ended, raising fears of renewed escalation in the conflict. Ukrainian officials did not immediately provide details about damage or casualties linked to the attack.
Kyiv has repeatedly faced drone and missile strikes since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, with air defense systems regularly activated to intercept incoming threats.
The latest assault underscores the fragile nature of temporary truces in the more than three-year-long war, as both sides continue military operations despite intermittent pauses in fighting.
