Delhi Teen Allegedly Gangraped By 3 Men Posing As Cops Near Kalkaji Temple

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three men who posed as policemen inside Astha Kunj Park in southeast Delhi’s Kalkaji area on Monday evening, police said on Tuesday.

Police said one of the accused was arrested on Tuesday morning, while efforts were underway to trace the other two suspects.

According to police, the girl had gone to Kalkaji Mandir with a 17-year-old male friend to offer prayers at around 7 pm. After visiting the temple, the two went to Astha Kunj Park, located near both Kalkaji Mandir and the ISKCON temple, around 7:30 pm.

Police said three men, aged between 25 and 30, approached the teenagers and allegedly identified themselves as policemen. The men reportedly threatened the boy and girl before sexually assaulting the minor inside the park.

One of the suspects allegedly restrained the boy while the other two assaulted the girl. The accused then allegedly threatened the teenagers with arrest before leaving the park.

A PCR call about the incident was received at around 8:45 pm, following which a police team reached the location. The girl was taken for a medical examination, police said.

Her statement was recorded and a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police teams have been deployed to apprehend the remaining accused, who are currently at large.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the suspects. Police are also gathering information about people who may have been present in or around the park at the time of the alleged incident.

“Further legal action is being taken on the basis of her statement. Efforts are on to identify and apprehend the accused,” a senior police officer said.
