Asian Games 2026 Day 5 : India’s Skeet Teams Win Bronze, Soft Tennis Assures Historic Medal

India began Day 5 of the Asian Games 2026 with a strong medal run, winning two bronze medals in shooting within the opening three hours.

The women’s skeet team of Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan secured bronze, followed by another bronze for the men’s skeet team featuring Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill.

India also achieved a historic milestone in soft tennis, with Jay Meena reaching the men’s singles semifinals to secure the country’s maiden Asian Games medal in the sport.

The two shooting bronzes took India’s medal tally to nine at the Asian Games 2026.

Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker also reached the women’s 10m air pistol final but finished fifth and missed out on a medal. Suruchi Inder Singh and Esha Singh were eliminated during the qualification round.

More Indian athletes remain in action on Day 5, with weightlifter Mirabai Chanu among those looking to add to India’s medal tally. The Indian men’s badminton team will also face China, with a place in the final at stake.

• Megha Pradeep — Qualified for the women’s C1 200m semifinal after finishing fifth in the heats.
• Parvathy Geetha and Phairembam Soniya Devi — Qualified for the women’s K2 500m final.

Table Tennis

• Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade — Defeated Maldives’ Mohamed Ismail and Fathimath Ali in the mixed doubles Round 2 match.
