Abhijeet Dipke warns of ‘massive peaceful protest’ if ‘witch-hunt’ of students continues

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday warned of another round of “massive peaceful protests”, alleging that students were being harassed by police amid the ongoing agitation over the NEET issue.

In a post on X, Dipke said the party would launch a large-scale demonstration if the alleged harassment continued, accusing the government of targeting students participating in the protests.

“If the harassment of students at the hands of the police continues, the Cockroach Janta Party will respond with a massive peaceful protest soon,” he wrote, adding that the government must stop what he called the “targeting and witch-hunting” of students.

Although the Centre accepted one of CJP’s key demands, prompting the group to end its protest, party leaders said their movement was far from over. Dipke described the conclusion of the agitation as “just the beginning” and said the organisation still had “a long way to go.”

He also demanded ₹1 crore in compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide during the examination controversy. The Centre has said it will provide the maximum possible compensation to the affected families.

CJP leaders said the organisation would continue campaigning for education reforms and expand its movement at the grassroots. Speaking to PTI, spokesperson Saurav Das said the party would keep raising issues affecting young people while pushing for reforms in education and governance.

Das also told NDTV that contesting elections was not an immediate priority, with the current focus remaining on ensuring governments address students’ concerns. CJP leader Ranka similarly said that while entering politics in the future had not been ruled out, the immediate objective was to continue pressing for reforms in the country’s education system.
