Salman Khan’s war drama Maatrubhumi has had a rather eventful journey, from a title change and teaser reactions to multiple postponements and uncertainty over its theatrical release. However, a new report suggests that the film may finally be ready to reach cinemas, possibly as early as next month.

Maatrubhumi Gets Government NOC: Report

Maatrubhumi, which was initially based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, was reportedly delayed amid concerns over how China would be portrayed in the film.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is now satisfied with the revised version of the film and reportedly granted it a No Objection Certificate (NOC) last week.

The film is said to have undergone several rounds of reshoots after the Defence Ministry reportedly objected to its earlier anti-China portrayal. A source cited by the publication claimed that the revised version is significantly different from the original.

“The new version of Maatrubhumi is highly altered compared to the original version. Moreover, it now also talks about the relationship between India and China in a positive light,” the source was quoted as saying.

Is Maatrubhumi Releasing On November 13?

The makers have not officially confirmed the reported NOC or announced a release date. However, the Bollywood Hungama report claims that Salman Khan is considering November 13 as the film’s theatrical release date.

According to the report, Salman believes the post-Diwali period, when audiences are still in a festive mood, could be an ideal window for the film.

However, the certification process is yet to be completed. The makers are expected to submit the film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) soon. If the CBFC clears the film and the certification process is completed this month, Maatrubhumi could reportedly arrive in cinemas on November 13.

The report added that a clearer picture regarding the release is expected to emerge within the next 10 days.

If the reported date materialises, Maatrubhumi would hit theatres a week after Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana Part One.

All About Maatrubhumi

Produced by Salma Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and features Chitrangada Singh in a pivotal role.

The film was initially titled Battle of Galwan before being renamed Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace earlier this year.

Originally based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, the film reportedly underwent extensive changes and reshoots. Reports subsequently claimed that references to China were removed from the revised version.

Maatrubhumi was initially scheduled to release in April but was later postponed. The makers have not yet announced a new official release date and had previously dismissed reports that the film had been shelved.
