Delhi High Court receives bomb threat via email a day before Independence Day

The Delhi High Court received a bomb threat through email on Friday, triggering a security alert in the capital a day before Independence Day, according to sources.

The threat comes as security has been tightened across Delhi and other parts of the country ahead of August 15, when India will celebrate its Independence Day.

Police personnel have been deployed at strategic locations, while additional checks are being carried out at entry and exit points. Security teams are also monitoring crowded public places and other areas expected to see increased movement ahead of the celebrations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the nation from the Red Fort on August 15 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

The latest threat follows a similar security scare at the Delhi Mayor’s Office earlier this month. On August 3, the office received its eighth bomb threat, according to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

The Mayor’s Office said the threat was received through an anonymous email at around 9:07 am, claiming that a bomb would explode at 2:11 pm.

Officials immediately informed the Delhi Police and other concerned security agencies, following which security protocols were activated and precautionary measures were put in place.

Authorities have stepped up vigilance across the capital as Independence Day approaches, with security agencies maintaining heightened surveillance at sensitive locations and areas likely to attract large crowds.
