India rejects Pakistan’s ‘Indian proxy’ claim over Karachi terror attack, urges action against terror groups

India on Sunday rejected Pakistan’s allegations that a recent terrorist attack in Karachi was carried out by an “Indian proxy”, calling the claims baseless and urging Islamabad to take action against terror networks operating from its territory.

The attack took place on Saturday night at the headquarters of the paramilitary Pakistan Rangers in Karachi, leaving three Pakistani security personnel and three terrorists dead.

The Pakistan-based militant group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Pakistan’s military and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi alleged that the assault was carried out by an “Indian proxy”, without providing evidence to support the claim.

India rejects Pakistan’s allegations

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed Pakistan’s accusations, saying they were an attempt to shift blame.

“We have seen Pakistani reports making baseless allegations against India regarding the recent incident in Karachi. We categorically reject them,” Jaiswal said.

He added that Pakistan should focus on addressing terrorism within its own borders.

“Instead of pointing fingers at others, Pakistan would do better to look inwards, take credible action against the terror infrastructure on its territory and rid itself of its proclivity to rely on terrorism as an instrument of state policy,” he said.

Details of Karachi attack

According to Pakistan’s military, a terrorist rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the Pakistan Rangers headquarters in Karachi, triggering a prolonged gun battle with security forces.

Three paramilitary personnel were killed and four others injured during the clash. Three attackers were also killed, while a fourth terrorist, identified as an Afghan national, was captured, the military said.

Pakistan’s military said it would take action against those responsible for the attack. Islamabad has previously carried out strikes inside Afghanistan, claiming they targeted militants involved in attacks on Pakistan.

Similar allegations rejected earlier

India has denied similar accusations from Pakistani authorities over involvement in past terror attacks and has repeatedly called on Islamabad to act against militant groups operating from Pakistani soil.
