Ranbir Kapoor vs Yash in Ramayana? Yash confirms no face-off in Part 1, fans will have to wait
Excitement is building around the epic showdown between Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama and Yash’s Ravana in Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. However, fans will have to wait for their face-off, as Yash has confirmed that the two characters do not share screen space in the film’s first instalment.
Speaking at CinemaCon alongside producer Namit Malhotra, Yash revealed that while both actors are part of the ambitious two-part project, their characters exist in separate arcs in the first film. He added that despite not shooting together, they share mutual respect and a common vision for bringing the story to life.
Yash also hinted that his portrayal of Ravana will go beyond a one-dimensional villain. As previously shared by Tiwari, the character will reflect multiple facets—ranging from a powerful ruler and scholar to a devoted follower of Lord Shiva.
Mounted on a massive budget of ₹4,000 crore, Ramayana is among the most expensive film projects ever undertaken in India. Alongside Ranbir and Yash, the film features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film’s first glimpse has sparked mixed reactions online—while many praised its scale and Ranbir’s look, others pointed to unfinished VFX and character design concerns. The makers have said they are taking feedback seriously.
With music by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, Ramayana Part One is slated for release in October 2026, with the second instalment expected in 2027.
