Miss Universe 2025 LIVE Updates: Mexico’s Fatima Bosch Crowned Winner; Internet Split Over Results
Beauty queens from around the world showcased their sashes and gowns on the final day of the 74th Miss Universe pageant, held this year in Thailand. Organisers also announced that next year’s edition will take place in Puerto Rico.
The event, however, has been overshadowed by a string of controversies. What began as accusations of belittling a contestant’s intellect quickly escalated into contestants staging walkouts and even the host breaking down in tears.
One of the most dramatic moments came when Mexico’s Fatima Bosch abruptly exited the venue — still dressed in her evening gown and heels — after host Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly reprimanded her during a closed-door meeting. In a livestream of the gathering, Nawat appeared to single her out, calling her a “dumbhead” amid a dispute over her alleged failure to post mandatory promotional content on social media.
The turbulence didn’t end there. Up to three jury members reportedly walked out, with one alleging improper relationships between a contestant and a judge.
Amid the chaos, India’s representative, 21-year-old political science student Manika Vishwakarma, continues to make her mark on the global stage.
