Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 Opens to Acclaim; Yash Calls It “Phenomenal Cinema”
Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited Kantara: Chapter 1 released in cinemas on 3 October, earning widespread praise from both critics and audiences. The film has quickly become a hot topic in the industry, with many hailing its grand scale and powerful storytelling. Among them, Kannada superstar Yash took to social media to celebrate the film as a landmark achievement.
Yash Hails Kantara: Chapter 1 as a Benchmark
On Friday, Yash shared his review on Instagram, calling the film “the new benchmark for Kannada and Indian cinema.” Applauding Shetty’s work as writer, director, and lead actor, he wrote:
“Your conviction, resilience, and sheer devotion are evident in every frame. Your vision translates into a truly immersive experience on screen.”
Yash also praised the cast, highlighting the performances of Rukmini Vasanth and Gulshan Devaiah, and thanked producer Vijay Kiragandur and Hombale Films for continually pushing the boundaries of Kannada cinema. He further credited B. Ajaneesh Loknath for his evocative music and Arvind Kashyap for striking cinematography, while acknowledging the contributions of the entire cast and crew, including the late Rakesh Poojary.

Directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Hombale Films, the mythological action drama serves as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. Featuring Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles, the film has been lauded for its visual grandeur, gripping climax, VFX, and powerful performances.
Kantara: Chapter 1 opened strongly at the box office, grossing ₹60 crore, while clashing with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra, which managed only ₹9.25 crore.
