Navarro Rants After X Flags Post Criticizing India’s Russian Oil Purchases

White House advisor Peter Navarro lashed out on Sunday after one of his posts targeting India’s imports of Russian oil was flagged with a community note on X.

Navarro accused India of buying Russian crude “solely to profit” and funding Moscow’s war machine, but the community note countered that the purchases were driven by energy security needs and did not breach sanctions. It also pointed out that the US maintains a trade surplus with India in services and continues to import certain commodities from Russia itself.

Dismissing the note as “crap,” Navarro blamed Elon Musk for “letting propaganda” onto the platform and renewed his accusations that India was profiteering at Ukraine’s expense.

Navarro has repeatedly attacked India over its oil trade with Russia, branding the country a “laundromat for the Kremlin” and calling Prime Minister Modi’s policies “Modi’s war in Ukraine.” His latest outburst comes after US President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on Indian imports to 50%, citing India’s Russian oil purchases.

India has rejected Navarro’s claims, with the foreign ministry describing his remarks as “inaccurate.”
