‘Unexpected mandate’: BJP chief Nitin Nabin reacts after Prashant Kishor wins Bankipur

BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Monday said the party accepted the verdict in the three Assembly bypolls and would conduct a detailed review after losing the Bankipur seat in Bihar and Datia in Madhya Pradesh.

In a post on X, Nabin thanked voters in Gujarat for helping the BJP retain the Manjalpur Assembly seat and congratulated party workers on the victory.

“We accept the mandate received in today’s three Assembly by-elections,” he said, expressing gratitude to the people of Manjalpur for the party’s win.

Acknowledging the setbacks in Bankipur and Datia, Nabin said the BJP had not received the mandate it expected.

“We will conduct a thorough introspection of the election results in both these areas with complete seriousness,” he said, adding that the party would return to the people “with renewed energy and determination” and continue working to strengthen their trust.

In Bihar’s Bankipur, Prashant Kishor defeated BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha by 19,324 votes. Kishor secured 64,151 votes, according to Election Commission data.
