Bollywood star and fitness icon Shilpa Shetty continues to inspire fans with her dedication to health and wellness. At 50, she credits regular workouts and mindful eating for her toned physique—and often uses social media to share tips from her fitness journey.

In her September 15 Instagram post, Shilpa introduced followers to the benefits of Bhramari Pranayama, or humming bee breath, a simple yet powerful yogic technique known to calm the mind and boost overall well-being.

Shilpa’s Step-by-Step Guide
Demonstrating the practice on video, she explained:

  1. Close your eyes and ears, cutting off external distractions.

  2. Place your tongue on the upper palate.

  3. Inhale deeply.

  4. Exhale with a humming sound.

Calling it one of the most powerful pranayamas, Shilpa highlighted its wide-ranging benefits—from emotional regulation and anxiety relief to improved blood circulation, lower blood pressure, and even reduced inflammation. She recommended 5 to 11 rounds daily, adding, “I consider this a complete Ram-Baan treatment.”

The Science of Breathwork
Experts agree on the benefits of mindful breathing. Speaking to HT Lifestyle earlier this month, Sonakshi Dhamija, authorised Ashtanga yoga teacher and founder of The Shala Delhi, said that pranayama practices can reduce anxiety, fight brain fog, and promote emotional balance when integrated into daily life.

As Shilpa signed off in her post: “Stay healthy, stay happy.”
