Sensex rises 100 pts, Nifty near 23,300; India VIX down 3%

The Nifty50 and the Sensex rose as oil prices erased gains and Asian markets rose.

As of 11:00 AM, the Sensex rose 134.03 points or 0.18 per cent to 74,448.62 and the Nifty50 was up 38.10 points or 0.16 per cent at 23,308.70.

Eternal, JSW Steel, and Shriram Finance were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap rose 0.52 per cent and 0.86 per cent, respectively.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Realty rose the most, while the Nifty IT declined the most.
