Sensex off highs, Nifty near 23,900; SMIDs gain; Nifty IT rises nearly 3%
The Nifty50 and the Sensex rose amid signs of the US-Iran peace deal.
As of 9:17 AM, the Nifty50 was up 36.90 points or 0.15 per cent at 23,957.75, and the Sensex rose 219.95 points or 0.29 per cent to 76,087.75.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap indices were trading 0.19 per cent and 0.37 per cent higher, respectively.
Sector-wise, the Nifty IT rose nearly 3 per cent to lead gains among peers. The Nifty PSU Bank and the Nifty Pharma also outperformed. Meanwhile, the Nifty Metal, the Nifty FMCG, and the Nifty Chemical underperformed.
The US and Iran have agreed to a 60-day truce renewal as both work to reach an agreement to end the war, Bloomberg reported, citing sources. The 60-day truce deal awaits President Donald Trump’s approval.
Meanwhile, Iran’s armed forces had fired missiles at unspecified targets on late Thursday. Earlier, the Pentagon said that Tehran had fired ballistic missiles at Kuwait and launched attack drones in and around the Strait of Hormuz.

SMR Jewels IPO will enter its final day of subscription. It’s a book-build issue of ₹67.23 crore. The price band for the issue is ₹128 to ₹135 per share. The lot size is 1,000 shares.
Similarly, Rajnandini Fashion India IPO will enter the final day of subscription. The company seeks to raise ₹18.21 crore through the initial offer. The price band for this offer is ₹59 to ₹63 per share. The lot size for an application is 2,000 shares.
