Sensex falls 500pts; Tata group shares slips 3% on news of Chandrasekaran’s exit

The benchmark indices, Nifty50 and the Sensex, extended losses as oil prices remained firm on uncertainty over a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

As of 11:00 AM, the Nifty50 fell 154.85 points or 0.63 per cent to 24,316.85 and the Sensex was down 521 points or 0.67 per cent at 77,633.29.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap was down 0.09 per cent, and the Nifty SmallCap rose 0.07 per cent.

Sector-wise, the Nifty PSU Bank and the Nifty Metal outperformed, while the Nifty Realty, the Nifty IT, and the Nifty Pharma underperformed.

Milky Mist Dairy Food IPO entered the second day of subscription. The book-build issue is worth ₹1,553 crore.

Sham Foam and Fascinate Textiles IPOs opened for the second day of subscription.

Dhoot Transmission and Molbio Diagnostics initial IPOs opened for subscription for the final day. The companies are aiming to raise ₹3,066.89 crore and ₹939.70 crore, respectively.
