A loud explosion was heard at Riyadh airport in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Reuters reported, citing an eyewitness and people familiar with the matter. The blast came amid renewed missile attacks by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group, two days after an earlier strike on the airport reportedly killed three people.

Five people injured in the attack on Riyadh airport are in intensive care, a hospital source told AFP.

Saudi government officials and the country’s civil aviation authority did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Saturday’s reported explosion.

King Khaled International Airport urged passengers to contact their airlines and check the latest flight updates before leaving for the airport, amid concerns over the evolving security situation.

Airlines Cancel Flights To Riyadh

Several airlines have revised their schedules following the latest security developments. Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways cancelled multiple flights connecting their hubs with Riyadh, with some cancellations extending until Monday.

The latest reported explosion follows attacks on Riyadh airport earlier in the week that reportedly killed three people, injured several others and damaged an aircraft belonging to Saudia, Saudi Arabia’s national carrier.

The attacks have prompted several airlines to suspend or cancel services to the Saudi capital, disrupting air travel ahead of major energy and investment conferences scheduled to take place in Riyadh.

Air India Extends Riyadh Flight Cancellations Until October 15

Air India has extended the cancellation of its flights to and from Riyadh until October 15, 2026, citing the evolving security situation in the region, sources told Hindustan Times.

The airline said passengers affected by the cancellations would be eligible for a full refund if they choose to cancel their bookings.

Air India added that it was closely monitoring developments and assessing the situation.

Passengers planning to travel to or from Riyadh have been advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules and cancellations before heading to the airport.
