Kuwait, Bahrain on Alert as Iran Launches Attacks on US Assets; Jordan Intercepts Missiles

Regional tensions surged early Wednesday as Kuwait reported intercepting hostile drones, Bahrain sounded air raid sirens and urged residents to seek shelter, and Jordan said it had shot down multiple missiles launched from Iran.

Kuwait’s military said its air defense systems were engaged in intercepting aerial threats in line with established operational procedures, while Bahrain’s Interior Ministry instructed the public to move to safe locations as warning sirens echoed across the Gulf kingdom.

Jordan’s armed forces announced that they had intercepted and destroyed five missiles headed toward the Al-Azraq area in eastern Jordan. Military officials said debris from the interceptions landed inside Jordanian territory but caused no casualties or property damage.

The developments came after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for strikes targeting four locations associated with the US Al-Azraq base in Jordan using long-range missiles.

The latest attacks follow a sharp escalation in regional hostilities. On Tuesday, the United States launched strikes on targets inside Iran after Tehran reportedly shot down a US military helicopter. Washington said investigations were continuing into the circumstances surrounding the downing of the Army Apache helicopter near the coast of Oman.

The confrontation marks another dangerous turn in the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Although a ceasefire had reduced hostilities for nearly two months, the latest military exchanges have raised fears of a broader regional escalation.
