Jailer 2 Advance Bookings Cross ₹20 Crore In 24 Hours; Rajinikanth Film Eyes Record-Breaking Opening
Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated film Jailer 2 has crossed the ₹20-crore mark in worldwide advance bookings within just 24 hours of ticket sales opening, signalling strong audience interest ahead of its theatrical release on October 15. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial has already generated substantial pre-release business, with overseas markets contributing a significant share of the collections.
With four days remaining before the film hits theatres, the action entertainer is building momentum at the box office. Advance bookings began in select international markets before opening in India on October 10, while ticket sales in some domestic markets, including Kerala, started later.
Jailer 2 Advance Booking Collection: Overseas Markets Lead
According to early box-office tracking figures reported on October 11, Jailer 2 had crossed ₹20 crore in worldwide advance sales. Overseas markets accounted for more than ₹17 crore, while domestic bookings continued to gain pace as additional theatres and regions opened their advance-booking windows.
In India, Tamil Nadu has emerged as the primary market for the film, with Chennai among the leading centres for advance ticket sales. The domestic total is expected to evolve as bookings expand across more locations and dubbed versions become available.
The early figures point to a strong opening-day performance, although the film’s final box-office collection will depend on ticket sales closer to release and audience response after the first shows.
When Will Jailer 2 Release?
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, 2026. Nelson Dilipkumar returns as writer and director for the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer.
Rajinikanth reprises his role as the retired jailer Muthuvel Pandian. The film features a prominent ensemble cast, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Vidya Balan, S. J. Suryah and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Malayalam superstar Mammootty and Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar are also associated with the project.
Music for the sequel has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who returns after contributing to the first film’s soundtrack.
Jailer 2 Trailer Raises Expectations
The film’s trailer, released on October 5, has added to the excitement surrounding the sequel. It promises a mix of action, comedy and Rajinikanth’s trademark screen presence, with the actor returning as Muthuvel Pandian to confront a new set of challenges.
The possibility of surprise appearances has also generated discussion among fans, although speculation about additional cameos remains unconfirmed.
The original Jailer was a major commercial success, collecting more than ₹600 crore worldwide according to widely reported box-office estimates. The sequel’s strong advance sales have raised expectations that it could become one of the biggest Tamil film openings of the year.
Can Rajinikanth Score Another Box-Office Record?
The ₹20-crore advance-booking milestone gives Jailer 2 a strong pre-release position, particularly with international demand driving much of the early sales. However, advance bookings alone do not guarantee a record-breaking opening, and the final outcome will depend on how ticket sales develop across India and overseas markets.
With Rajinikanth returning to one of his most popular recent characters, the film is among the major theatrical releases to watch this week. Its opening-day figures on October 15 will provide a clearer indication of whether the sequel can match or surpass the commercial performance of its predecessor.
