Iran says it halts three oil tankers in Strait of Hormuz for ‘unsafe’ route

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on Wednesday said they struck and stopped three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state media, despite a relative lull in tensions between Tehran and Washington.

The Guards’ navy said the vessels had ignored repeated warnings and continued sailing along what it described as an “unsafe and illegal route.”

“Three violating oil tankers, which ignored our warnings and continued sailing an unsafe and illegal route, were struck and brought to a halt,” the Tasnim News Agency quoted the force as saying.
