Indian-origin man, 26, killed in knife attack in London’s Southall
A 26-year-old Indian-origin man was stabbed to death in a knife attack in Southall, west London, the Metropolitan Police said on Saturday. The victim was identified as Gurbhej Singh.
Police said officers were called at 12:41 am on Wednesday following a report from the London Ambulance Service about a stabbing on North Road, near the junction with Dormers Wells Lane. Two injured men were found at the scene and treated by paramedics.
Singh was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering stab wounds. The second victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
Seven men, mostly in their 20s and late 30s, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Following initial inquiries, six were released without further action, while the seventh suspect was released on bail pending further investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command appealed for witnesses to come forward.
“I would urge anyone with CCTV covering the area, or anyone who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to police, to please come forward,” Foxwell said.
“Homicide detectives continue to investigate Mr Singh’s tragic death and my thoughts remain with his family and loved ones,” she added.
Police believe Singh was assaulted outside a shop at the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane at around 12:30 am on Wednesday.
The investigation remains ongoing, with officers continuing to work to establish the motive behind the fatal attack and the circumstances leading up to the incident. Police said support is being provided to Singh’s family.
