Flydubai Incident: Netanyahu Says ‘Too Early’ To Determine If Iran Had Role In Suspected Crash Attempt
Passengers aboard a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv arrived safely in Israel on Wednesday after passengers and crew reportedly intervened to stop an alleged attempt by the co-pilot to crash the aircraft, Israeli officials said.
The incident occurred when the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain, sending the aircraft plunging nearly 14,000 feet (4,267 metres) in less than 30 seconds.
Flydubai said the circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear and urged against “premature speculation.”
Netanyahu Says Israel Will Probe Attacker’s Motive
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would investigate the “root” of the co-pilot involved in the incident and could potentially participate in the investigation.
“We’ll get to the root of this attacker, whether he had accomplices, whether Iran was behind it. I think we’ll find out very soon,” Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on the “Hannity” programme.
The comments came as Israeli authorities continued to assess the circumstances surrounding the mid-air incident and the alleged attempt to bring down the flight.
