Faridabad woman booked over alleged abusive remarks against PM Modi during Jantar Mantar protest

A Faridabad-based woman has been booked after she was allegedly seen using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 23. The case was registered after a Ghaziabad resident filed a complaint, citing viral videos circulating on social media.

Police in Noida registered a zero FIR on Wednesday night under provisions related to intentional insult, public mischief and defamation in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), before transferring the case to Parliament Street police station in New Delhi, where the incident took place.

According to the complaint filed by Ghaziabad resident and lawyer Smriti Singh, the woman’s alleged remarks insulted the dignity of the Prime Minister’s office and were intended to spread hatred and disturb public peace. Singh claimed she verified the woman’s identity through social media before approaching the police, saying such language on a public platform was unacceptable.

Noida Police said the complainant initially believed the accused lived in the city. However, during verification, officers found that while the woman owns a flat in Sector 168, Noida, she currently resides in Uncha village in Faridabad, and the Noida apartment is vacant.

Additional DCP Manisha Singh said the zero FIR was filed at the Expressway police station because the alleged offence occurred in Delhi, and the case has now been transferred to the Parliament Street police for further investigation.
