Explosions Rock Kyiv Amid Missile Attack Alert

Several loud explosions were heard across Kyiv early Tuesday as air defence systems were activated during an air raid alert, AFP journalists reported.

“New ballistic missiles are heading toward Kyiv,” the Ukrainian Air Force said in a warning posted on Telegram.

Journalists in the Ukrainian capital reported a combined drone and missile attack, as Kyiv continues to face intensifying Russian airstrikes during both the day and night.

On Monday, a woman was killed and six people were injured after a Russian drone strike sparked a fire at the Kyiv Academy of Sciences, according to a preliminary report from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Last week, Zelensky again urged Ukraine’s Western allies to step up military support, particularly by supplying additional US-made Patriot air defence systems capable of intercepting powerful ballistic missiles.
