Bengaluru Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife and Six In-Laws, Bodies Dumped at Multiple Locations
Bengaluru Police have arrested a 45-year-old cab driver accused of murdering his wife and six members of her family following an alleged domestic dispute, officials familiar with the investigation said on Friday.
The accused, identified as Indushekhar, allegedly committed the killings on Wednesday and disposed of the bodies at different locations, including Nandi Hills in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district.
Police have recovered the body of a child, believed to be among the victims, while search operations are continuing to locate the remaining bodies.
The incident reportedly took place in a residential neighbourhood along 59th Cross, near Basroom Circle, within the jurisdiction of Rajajinagar police station.
North Division Deputy Commissioner of Police B S Nema Gowda said a large police team had been deployed to investigate the case.
“The incident occurred on Wednesday. Two ACPs, four inspectors and around 50 police personnel are involved in the investigation. The accused has thrown the bodies at different locations. We are searching for the bodies,” he said.
Wife Allegedly Killed First, Bodies Dumped at Different Locations
According to investigators, Indushekhar allegedly first killed his wife, Sunita, using a grinding stone. He then reportedly wrapped her body in cloth and disposed of it near Nandi Hills.
Police officers said the accused subsequently switched off his wife’s mobile phone and allegedly told neighbours that she had gone on a trip, apparently to avoid suspicion.
He then allegedly targeted six other members of his wife’s family, including his mother-in-law, two brothers-in-law, their wives and a seven-year-old nephew.
The full names of the accused and his wife were not immediately available.
Missing-Person Complaint Leads Police to Suspected Mass Murder
The alleged killings came to light after the mother of one of the accused’s sisters-in-law filed a missing-person complaint at Srirampura police station on Thursday.
During the subsequent investigation, police uncovered evidence pointing towards multiple suspected murders and arrested Indushekhar.
Investigators also suspect that the accused used chemicals to clean the house and remove bloodstains following the alleged killings.
Police Seize Car and Suspected Murder Weapon
As part of the investigation, police have seized the car allegedly used to transport the bodies to different locations.
They have also recovered the grinding stone believed to have been used in the murder of Sunita.
Around 50 police personnel, including two assistant commissioners of police and four inspectors, are involved in the investigation and search operations.
Police are continuing efforts to recover the remaining bodies and establish the full sequence of events behind the alleged killings.
The motive behind the suspected multiple murders and other circumstances surrounding the case remain under investigation.
