India’s pace attack delivered a superb performance as Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar and Anshul Kamboj claimed four, three and two wickets respectively to bowl New Zealand out for 185 in 40.2 overs at Eden Park, Auckland.

The hosts would have been in deeper trouble had it not been for a 39-run partnership for the final wicket between Blair Tickner and Jacob Duffy. Glenn Phillips top-scored with 38, while Tickner contributed 34 runs. Despite the modest total, New Zealand can still take some hope from the conditions, with the pitch offering consistent assistance to fast bowlers from the very first delivery. The match is far from over.

Speaking after the New Zealand innings, Arshdeep Singh expressed his delight at the bowling conditions, saying, “Loving the weather here and there is good purchase off the surface. After coming from the subcontinent, when you get some life in the wickets, it’s always a pleasure to bowl here. And yeah, the wind is helping as well.”
