US to Host Ukraine-Russia Peace Talks in Abu Dhabi on November 10-11
The United States will bring together delegations from Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on November 10-11 for fresh talks aimed at ending Moscow’s war against Ukraine, addressing post-war security arrangements and reducing hostilities, US envoy Steve Witkoff announced on Monday.
Washington is seeking a breakthrough in the prolonged conflict before the onset of winter. The latest initiative follows months of diplomatic efforts to bring the two sides closer to a negotiated settlement.
In a social media post, Witkoff said the discussions would focus on post-war security guarantees, de-escalation, humanitarian measures and efforts to end the war.
Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are leading the US diplomatic initiative, are expected to represent Washington at the Abu Dhabi meetings, a senior US official told Reuters.
Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to another round of trilateral negotiations following a meeting with Witkoff in St Petersburg two weeks ago, marking a renewed push by the Trump administration to end Europe’s deadliest conflict since World War II.
Separately, US negotiators are expected to hold working-level discussions in Brussels this week with representatives from France, Germany, Britain, the European Union and NATO.
According to the US official, the meetings will address security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe’s future security framework and economic assistance for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.
The official said the discussions build on recent diplomatic engagements and reflect President Donald Trump’s continued efforts to secure a lasting peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv.
Despite the renewed diplomatic push, Russia and Ukraine remain deeply divided over the terms of a potential peace settlement. Trump has recently increased pressure on Kyiv to reach an agreement, although major differences between the two sides remain unresolved.
