Trump Says Norway Has ‘Indelible Stain’ For Denying Him Nobel Peace Prize

US President Donald Trump on Friday renewed his criticism over being denied the Nobel Peace Prize, describing the decision as “disgraceful and embarrassing” and accusing Norway, which hosts the Nobel Committee, of being left with an “indelible stain.”

Trump’s remarks came hours after this year’s Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Navi Pillay, a former judge of the International Criminal Court who oversaw a UN report that concluded Israel had committed genocide in Gaza.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York, Trump dismissed Pillay as a “mystery person,” adding, “I never heard of the person. Nobody did.”

Trump has repeatedly expressed disappointment over not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize during his presidency, arguing that his efforts to resolve international conflicts deserved recognition.

“This is an indelible stain on the country of Norway and those people that made such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision,” Trump said.

He also cited several international tensions that he claimed to have helped resolve or prevent, including potential conflicts involving North and South Korea, Japan and North Korea, and China and Taiwan. However, he did not provide evidence to support those claims.

“The Nobel Peace Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are anti-democracy and really enemies of civilization. And we will not forget, Norway,” Trump said.
