Kangana Ranaut Again Targets ‘Sasti Copy’ Taapsee Pannu Over Upbringing Jibe: ‘Questionable Background’
Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut appeared to reignite her long-running feud with fellow actor Taapsee Pannu on Saturday, posting two Instagram stories targeting her over recent remarks. Kangana later deleted both posts.
Kangana Ranaut targets Taapsee
Kangana initially did not name Taapsee but referred to her as a “sasti copy”, a phrase previously used against the actor. She accused Taapsee of ridiculing her upbringing and parents while promoting her upcoming film.
Kangana questioned why Taapsee had allegedly targeted her family, saying she had never brought anyone’s parents into their disagreements.
In a second Instagram story, Kangana shared a report about Taapsee’s comments and addressed her directly. She defended her family background and said she had chosen to start her career from scratch, questioning why her parents were being dragged into the dispute.
Both Instagram stories, posted on Saturday evening, had been deleted by Sunday morning.
What did Taapsee say about Kangana?
Taapsee has been promoting her upcoming Netflix film Gandhari. In a recent interview with India Today, she revisited her differences with Kangana and said the two actors had never met.
Taapsee said her views about Kangana reflected her own upbringing and way of perceiving things, while Kangana had her own perspective. She added that people could decide for themselves what those differences said about each actor.
How did the Kangana-Taapsee feud begin?
The rivalry dates back to 2019 and intensified after Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel described Taapsee as a “sasti copy” of Kangana on social media.
The dispute escalated further in 2020 when Kangana criticised Taapsee and other actors as “B-grade actresses” and “needy outsiders” amid the debate over nepotism and the film industry.
Despite their differences, Taapsee has previously indicated that she would be open to becoming friends with Kangana.
