Diljit Dosanjh’s San Francisco Concert Disrupted After Alleged Pro-Khalistan Protester Rushes Stage

Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s concert at the Chase Center in San Francisco was briefly disrupted after an alleged pro-Khalistan protester reportedly breached security and entered the stage area carrying a Khalistan flag.

The incident took place during Diljit’s Aura World Tour show, part of his back-to-back concerts in the US city. A video from the event went viral on social media, showing Diljit performing on stage before noticing the individual near him with the flag.

In the video, Diljit appears to stop dancing and move away as the person approaches. Security personnel then intervene, remove the individual from the stage and escort him away from the venue. Other videos circulating online appeared to show police detaining the person. Reports said the individual was later arrested.

The incident is not the first disruption linked to pro-Khalistan activists at Diljit’s overseas performances. Earlier during his Aura World Tour in Canada, a group of protesters allegedly raised pro-Khalistan slogans and displayed separatist flags inside a concert venue before being removed by security officials.

Diljit responds to previous disruptions

Following the Canada incident, Diljit addressed the controversy through Instagram Stories, saying that protests outside a venue were different from disrupting a concert and disturbing fans inside.

He said flags or banners could represent someone’s identity or support, but using them to target fans or interrupt a performance would not be acceptable.

Diljit clarified that his issue was not with any particular flag or banner but with the intention behind its use, adding that attempts to disrupt his shows would not be allowed.

Why the controversy emerged

The concerns around Diljit’s overseas concerts grew after his appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, where he touched actor Amitabh Bachchan’s feet and was praised as “Punjab da puttar” (Punjab’s son).

Following the episode, reports claimed that the singer faced criticism and alleged threats from supporters linked to the pro-Khalistan movement. The group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) reportedly objected to the interaction and later threatened disruptions at his concerts.

The controversy has led to increased security concerns around some of Diljit’s international performances as he continues his global tour.
