IAF AN-32 transport aircraft crashes during landing in Assam’s Jorhat, pilot feared dead
An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while attempting to land at Rowriah Air Force Station in Assam’s Jorhat on Saturday, with officials fearing the pilot may have been killed in the accident.
According to the IAF, the cargo aircraft, which is used for transporting supplies, went down during its landing approach and crashed within the airbase premises in Upper Assam.
Rescue teams were immediately deployed to the crash site, while efforts are underway to ascertain the fate of other crew members who may have been on board. The Air Force said further details would be released as information becomes available.
The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the IAF has ordered a court of inquiry to investigate the circumstances leading to the accident.
Authorities are continuing rescue and recovery operations at the site.
