Over 500 Women, Girls Reported Missing in Delhi in First 15 Days of 2026: Police Data
More than 500 women and girls were reported missing in Delhi during the first half of January 2026, accounting for nearly two-thirds of all missing persons cases in the capital, according to police records.
Between January 1 and 15, a total of 807 people were reported missing, of whom 509 were women and girls and 298 were men. This translates to an average of about 54 missing persons reported every day.
Police data shows that only 235 individuals have been traced so far, while 572 cases remain unresolved.
Minors accounted for 191 of the missing cases, raising serious concerns over child safety. Girls constituted a majority among minors, with 146 missing girls compared to 45 boys, PTI reported.
Teenagers formed the largest group among missing minors. During the period, 169 adolescents were reported missing, including 138 girls and 31 boys. Nearly 71 per cent of these teenage cases are yet to be resolved, according to police records.
Among younger children, 13 cases were reported in the 8–12 age group, including eight boys and five girls. Nine children below the age of eight were also reported missing. Only six children from these age groups have been traced so far.
Adults continued to form the largest segment of missing persons. During the same period, 616 adults went missing, including 363 women and 253 men. Police have traced 181 adults, while 435 cases remain pending.
The latest figures reflect a worrying long-term trend. In 2025, Delhi recorded more than 24,500 missing persons cases, with women making up over 60 per cent of the total. Over the past decade, nearly 2.3 lakh people have been reported missing in the city, with around 52,000 cases still unresolved.
Police officials said efforts to trace missing persons are ongoing, with special focus on cases involving women and children.
