The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal on Tuesday released details of voters deleted from the state’s draft electoral roll as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ahead of the 2026 elections.

According to WB CEO sources, a total of 5,820,898 pre-existing voters — more than 58 lakh — have been removed from the draft voter list due to reasons such as death, permanent relocation, duplication, missing voters and other causes.

The Election Commission clarified that individuals aggrieved by the deletions can file claims using Form 6, along with a declaration form and supporting documents, after the publication of the Draft Roll 2026. The window for submitting claims and objections will remain open until January 15, 2026, after which the final electoral rolls will be published.

Breakdown of Deleted Voters

Data released by the WB CEO shows the following reasons for deletions:

  • Dead: 2,416,852 voters

  • Relocated: 1,988,076 voters

  • Missing (not traceable at registered address): 1,220,038 voters

  • Duplicate entries: 138,328 voters

The revised draft voter list has been published ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for early next year.

The enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision in the state concluded late Thursday last week, officials said.
