PM Modi Speaks to Qatar Emir, Condemns Israeli Strikes in Doha; Calls for Dialogue, Peace and Stability

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, strongly condemning the Israeli airstrikes in Doha and voicing concern over the escalating tensions.

Modi stressed that disputes must be resolved “through dialogue and diplomacy” and urged restraint to avoid further escalation.

“Spoke with Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and expressed deep concern at the attacks in Doha. India condemns the violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly State of Qatar,” PM Modi posted on X. He reiterated that India “stands firmly in support of peace and stability in the region, and against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”

The Israeli strikes in Doha killed six people in a neighborhood that housed foreign embassies and schools. Following the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Israel initiated it, Israel conducted it, and Israel takes full responsibility.”

Qatar denounced the assault on Hamas’ political headquarters, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari calling it a “flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.” Hamas later confirmed that five of its members, including the son of its exiled Gaza chief and top negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, were among the dead
