AIIMS, Harvard, Stanford-Trained Gastroenterologist Reveals Top 3 Foods to Cut Liver Fat: “Include Turmeric Daily”
In a September 6 Instagram video, gastroenterologist Dr Saurabh Sethi—trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford—recommended three key foods to help reduce liver fat and support liver health.
1. Healthy Beverages:
Dr Sethi suggested including drinks such as black coffee, black tea, green tea, and matcha in your diet.
2. Turmeric:
“Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound with strong anti-inflammatory properties,” he said. He recommended taking half to one teaspoon daily for liver benefits.
3. Berries, Broccoli, and Beets:
Dr Sethi called these the “three Bs.” Berries are rich in antioxidants that protect the liver, broccoli contains fiber and sulforaphane to aid detoxification, and beets are high in betalains, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
He captioned the video: “3 foods to reduce liver fat. Science shows these foods can support your liver and overall metabolic health—worth adding to your routine.”
Dr Sethi is a board-certified gastroenterologist, hepatologist, and interventional endoscopist, with fellowships in gastroenterology and hepatology at Harvard and advanced endoscopy at Stanford.
Fatty liver often shows no symptoms but can silently damage health. Early dietary changes can help reverse its effects.
