NCB Turns Off Comments After Backlash to Alia Bhatt Anti-Drugs Video

The Chandigarh division of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was forced to disable comments on one of its recent posts featuring Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt, after it drew a wave of trolling online.

The video, posted on the agency’s official X handle last week, showed Bhatt urging citizens to say no to drugs and support the NCB’s campaign. “Say yes to life and no to drugs,” she said in the clip, which has since garnered over 1.1 million views and more than 680 reposts.

While the campaign appeared harmless, the post received just six comments—most questioning Bhatt’s selection as the campaign’s face—before the agency disabled replies. All other NCB Chandigarh posts continue to allow comments.

The trolling, however, continued through quote-tweets. Some users mocked the initiative as “ironic,” citing Bollywood’s alleged drug links, while others brought up Bhatt’s husband, Ranbir Kapoor. One user dismissed the e-pledge drive itself, writing: “When has a pledge ever worked? If someone offers me drugs, I’m not going to say—I promised Alia Bhatt.”

Alia Bhatt, one of Bollywood’s highest-paid actors, was last seen in Vasan Bala’s Jigra. Her upcoming projects include Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War and Yash Raj Films’ Alpha.
