NCERT Introduces Special Modules on Operation Sindoor for Classes 3–12

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released special modules on Operation Sindoor, which will now be taught to students from Classes 3 to 12 as supplementary reading material.

According to a PTI report, the module describes Operation Sindoor as “not just a military operation but a promise to protect peace and honour the lives lost.” It also alleges Pakistan’s direct involvement in the 2024 Pahalgam terror attack, stating that while Islamabad denied responsibility, the assault was “directly ordered by its military and political leadership.”

The modules are titled “Operation Sindoor—A Saga of Valour” for Classes 3–8 and “Operation Sindoor—A Mission of Honour and Bravery” for Classes 9–12, The Print reported.

The release comes days after NCERT issued another controversial special module on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, which sparked a political row. That module attributed responsibility for Partition to “Jinnah, who demanded it; the Congress, which accepted it; and Mountbatten, who implemented it.”

About Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor was India’s military response to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, when terrorists opened fire on tourists in Baisaran valley, killing 25 Indians and one Nepali national. In retaliation, Indian forces launched strikes on terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in May.

The escalation pushed India and Pakistan to the brink of a fifth war, but after four days of hostilities, both sides agreed to a ceasefire.
