Gurugram: Man Shoots Daughter Dead Over Tennis Academy Dispute, Held by Police

In a shocking incident from Gurugram, a 25-year-old woman, Radhika Yadav, was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, after a prolonged dispute over her decision to run a tennis academy. The accused has since been arrested and is currently in police custody.

According to Gurugram Police PRO Sandeep Kumar, the father, who runs a rental business and is financially well-off, had repeatedly urged his daughter to shut down her tennis training academy. “He didn’t want her to continue with the academy as the family was already financially secure, but she refused to comply,” Kumar told ANI.

Kumar stated that Deepak Yadav shot Radhika three times in a fit of rage using his licensed pistol. The police were alerted on Thursday by a private hospital in Sector 56 after Radhika was brought in with gunshot wounds. She was declared dead on arrival.

A police team immediately reached the hospital and then visited the family’s residence to begin a thorough forensic investigation. Deepak Yadav was found at home and was taken into custody following standard legal procedures. The weapon used in the murder — a licensed firearm — has also been recovered.

“Radhika was passionate about tennis and continued to run her academy despite her father’s objections,” Kumar added. He also confirmed that the accused has admitted to committing the crime.

Reports have also surfaced of a music video featuring Radhika that went viral after her death. While some suggested it might have further fuelled tensions between her and her father, the police have dismissed these claims as rumours for now, saying there is no confirmation of any link to the video in the ongoing investigation.

Deepak Yadav was produced in court on Friday and has been remanded to one-day police custody. Inspector Vinod Kumar, SHO of Sector 56 police station, stated that the police will be recovering ammunition believed to be hidden on a family plot in a nearby village near Rewari.
