Iran Warns of Historic Missile Strike as Israel Hits Tehran Broadcaster, Tensions Soar
As the Israel-Iran conflict enters its fourth day, tensions reached new heights on Monday after Tehran warned of launching the “largest and most intense missile attack in history on Israeli soil,” according to Iranian state media.
The warning came hours after the Israeli Air Force bombed the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB in central Tehran — an airstrike that was partially captured live on air.
Israel Strikes IRIB; Declares War on ‘Iranian Propaganda’
The attack on IRIB followed remarks by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, who declared that Tel Aviv would wipe out “Iranian propaganda.”
“The Iranian propaganda and incitement mouthpiece is on its way to disappear,” Katz said, referring to IRIB.
He also directly warned Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating that Israel will “strike everywhere” to dismantle what he called the “Iranian director” behind regional destabilization.
Netanyahu: Israel Controls Tehran Skies
Earlier on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Israel had achieved “air superiority” over Iran’s capital.
“We control the skies over Tehran,” Netanyahu said, asserting that Israel is moving swiftly toward its goal of dismantling Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.
He emphasized that Israeli forces were targeting only regime-linked facilities, contrasting it with Iran’s alleged targeting of Israeli civilians.
Khamenei Vows Revenge: “Tel Aviv Will Be in Ruins”
In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a stern warning to Israel through a televised message. Referring to last week’s airstrike that killed several senior Iranian generals and damaged nuclear infrastructure, Khamenei said:
“Israel should not think it is over. They initiated this war, and they will not escape the consequences of this great crime.”
He further warned:
“The Zionist regime has sealed its fate with this crime. Tel Aviv will be left in ruins. A bitter and painful fate awaits them.”
Casualties Mount on Both Sides
According to the Iranian Health Ministry, 224 people have died and over 1,200 have been injured due to Israeli airstrikes across the country.
Meanwhile, Tehran’s missile and drone attacks on Jerusalem reportedly killed at least 24 people and left 592 injured, according to a statement from the office of Israeli PM Netanyahu.
Global Alarm Grows
As Israel’s military offensive, Operation Rising Lion, continues, Netanyahu reiterated that its goal is to neutralize what he calls Iran’s “existential threats.”
Meanwhile, the chief of the UN nuclear watchdog (IAEA) has expressed serious concern about potential radiological and chemical contamination at Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, which was heavily targeted in recent Israeli strikes.
World leaders have begun calling for restraint, amid fears that the rapidly escalating hostilities could spiral into a full-scale regional war.
