Zelensky Urges Allies to Halt Russian Oil Purchases, Rebukes ‘Excuses’ on Sanctions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday called on Western partners to stop buying Russian oil and to end delays in imposing sanctions.

“I urge all partners to stop looking for excuses not to impose sanctions — Europe, the US, the G7, the G20,” Zelensky wrote on X. “It is necessary to reduce the consumption of Russian oil, and this will definitely reduce Russia’s ability to fight.”

His remarks come after US President Donald Trump said Washington would only enforce sanctions once all NATO members agreed to do the same. Zelensky said the American stance “should be heard by all who still choose supplies from Russia rather than from other partners.”
